The car is not roadworthy with a nonfunctioning DPF, so for using let alone selling it (depending on state) it needs fixing. Cleaning is probably cheaper, so that would be better for selling it as long as it works. I would want some assurance about the latter. User #308881 1079 posts.

Kev555 said: As mentioned above if DPF is needing forced regen apart from the split hose theres something possibly not right Nick (DPF pressure sensor or temp sender possibly). Live values on your icarsoft should show any wayward readings if theres no fault codes.
The DPF will store this soot and ash to later burn them off during a regeneration cycle. There are three different types of regeneration cycles that are commonly used to clean out most DPF systems – active, passive and forced. Each type of regeneration cycle needs its own specific set of conditions to occur.

I am thinking this info is still fairly accurate for the 2020’s. So much for swapping out exhaust tips.
Select “auto scan” to scan the vehicle for engine codes, a force region cannot occur while codes are present. Firstly I'm not a qualified mechanic by any stretch I'm just going by what I've read online and with basic knowledge of cars. So I've got a 2014 Mazda 6 2.2d sport grand tourer which I bought from a trader in July, worked absolutely fine up until around a month ago when it started to show the 'low oil pressure, engine damage possible, check oil level' red triangle warning light on the cluster

I do mainly motorway driving, so thought the DPF would have plenty of opportunity to regenerated itself. However the car is a 6 speed automatic and rarely gets above 2500 rpm. At 70 (ish) mph it is only at around 2000 rpm. The problem occured when I was on a 10 mile stretch of 50 mph avg spd chk roadworks on the M25!
Mazda forced dpf regeneration with wow after injectors replacement.
If those circumstances do not happen (short journeys, city driving etc etc) then the system cannot clean that dpf, so after monitoring the pressure in the dpf the warning light comes on and it goes to your dealer. The dealer checks through everything and then carries out a forced regeneration using examiner.
