I had my ELM327 cable so I went through the configuration of my Ford Focus Mk2.5 2011. With ELMconfig I could read GEM, PCM, HEC, ABS and I noticed that they are all with software from 2008/2009. Probably no help for you but for anyone else there is a key which is under the Ford logo in the key fob. Press the 2 buttons on the side of the fob and the plastic cover should pop up (or need to be prized up) to reveal the key. The key can be put in the fob in a way it can then be inserted into the lock and turned. So..I have a Focus Mk2 (2008) - It had a faulty instrument cluster (would throw an engine fault/power steering fault/reduced speed mode/etc..). If i pressed on the cluster, the faults would go away. Anyway - last week i just brought a 2nd hand cluster from eBay (there was no listed faults with it) and fitted it this weekend. Very common issue, had it with my MK2 and smacking the dash like an old TV would bring it back. If that's the case then it's going to be a solder issue. The fact that your LCD is dead is another clue to bad solder. What you need to do to fix it permanently is pull the instrument cluster out and resolder the connector for the dash wiring loom.
